Meet the Midwives:

Vickie Liguori, Certified Professional Midwife
Vickie, 48, and her husband of 30 years live in McGaheysville and have 12 wonderful children, and a growing number of grandchildren. She is homeschooling six of the children at this time. She became interested in childbirth and midwifery in her teens, and soon after her first baby was born became a Bradley childbirth instructor. Her first child was born in the hospital and that experience confirmed that midwifery care was the option for her, and her next ten children were born at home. She is an herbalist and a firm believer in the importance of a high quality diet. She began attending women in childbirth in the early ‘80’s, taking an eight year sabbatical to run a small farm beginning in ’97. In ’04 she decided to return to her calling of midwifery and began the CPM process. She has had a wide range of experiences not only in her own births but in serving women, attending several hundred women in various capacities. She has apprenticed under three different midwives and worked for two months at a birth center in Texas. She became fully credentialed and licensed in March of ’08.

Doran Richards, Advanced Student Midwife
Doran, 40, has been married for 17 years and lives in Strasburg. She is the mother of six beautiful children, ages 15 to a new baby; she home schools four of the six children. She is an Advanced Student Midwife working diligently towards completion of her CPM credential. Like many women having their first baby in these modern times, she was given a caesarean section for her first child. She went on to have a successful vaginal hospital birth with her second child. Her remaining four births were at home with midwives. Doran attended her first birth at age 14 and as a long time student of midwifery she has been actively studying and seeking to advance her skills and knowledge levels with many workshops and conferences. She has been attending births for 8 years. Her experience is broad, attending hospital as well as home births and has worked with five different midwives in the area. Doran is certified as a Christian Doula and Childbirth Educator through Cascade Christian Childbirth Association. She is also the founder and sole owner of Blessing God's Way, author of Maiden by His Design curriculum and co-author of the book A Celebration of Pregnancy. She holds a position on the board of International Christian Childbirth Coalition. She also teaches and speaks at conferences for women of all ages on their three cycles of life: Maidenhood, Maternity & Menopause.
We look forward to serving you!
